Reception to honor Deberg on Wednesday

image of Jennifer DebergJennifer Deberg, Clinical Education Librarian for the College of Nursing, has earned the Arthur Benton Excellence in Reference Services Professional Development Award.

Please join us for a celebration on Wednesday, September 26 from 3-4:30pm in the Hardin Library Conference Room 401.

Jennifer was nominated by both The College of Nursing and the Department of Nursing at University of Iowa Healthcare.  Jennifer provides one-on-one consults and course integrated training for students, faculty, and staff in these departments as well as other departments.

Permanent Exhibit Honors Dr. Hardin

A permanent exhibit honoring Dr. Robert C. Hardin, for whom the Hardin Library for the Health Sciences is named, is now on display near the Library’s 3rd floor entrance.  In addition to performing pioneering research in blood banking and transfusion and in diabetes, Dr. Hardin was instrumental in the current design of the University of Iowa’s health sciences campus.

RefWorks Issues Resolved

Problems related to last night’s hardware upgrade for RefWorks have been addressed and testing has shown IP authentication and other functionality returned to normal.

All users will need to clear their internet browser cache of cookies and restart their browsers before attempting to log back in again.

RefWorks has apologized for the inconvenience and appreciates your understanding.

Learn how to use PubMed with our sessions this fall

PubMed is the National Library of Medicine’s index to the  medical literature and includes over 17 million bibliographic citations in life  sciences. This one hour session will introduce you to the basics of searching  PubMed and will also cover: using subject headings (MeSH headings), combining  searches, choosing limits, and saving, printing and emailing search results.

CLAUDE NICOLAS LE CAT (1700-1768). Traité des sens. Nouvelle ed. Amsterdam: Chez J. Wetstein, 1744.

Le Cat, a man of many interests, was one of France’s foremost surgeons and researchers. Le Cat was interested in the physiology of the nervous system. He was a contemporary of Haller and incorrectly believed, contrary to Haller, that the dura mater and arachnoid were the seat of sensation.

EndNote is a reference management tool that helps you to easily gather together your references in one place, organize them, and then insert them into papers and format them in a style of your choosing.  This session will walk you through the basics of using EndNote to collect and format your citations.  The class will be hands-on and there will be time for questions at the end.
