Ed Holtum, curator of the John Martin Rare Book Room and a University of Iowa health sciences librarian since 1971 retired on June 30, 2010. We wish him the best. The John Martin Rare Book Room will remain open with a new curator–Donna Hirst.

Martinez wins Student Fan of the Year
Russell Martinez won the first Student Fan of the Year award at Hawkapalooza on September 3, 2009. Martinez in a Junior majoring in Informatics and works in information technology support at the Hardin Library.

The Libraries now subscribe to Proquest Digital Dissertations, which includes 2.4 million dissertation and theses citations from 1861 to the present day together with 1 million full-text dissertations that are available for download in PDF format.
