Powered by Hoover’s™, a Dun & Bradstreet Solution, Mergent Intellect is a flexible web-based application that features a deep collection of worldwide business information that enables companies to generate insightful business intelligence. Coupling Mergent’s expertise in developing products for the reference marketplace with Dun & Bradstreet’s private company database, Mergent Intellect offers new and existing clients a unique opportunity to access private and public U.S and international business data, industry news, facts and figures, executive contact information, the ability to access industry profiles and much more.

Where to find it: You can find it here, and under “M” on our Databases A to Z page.

Use it to find: Information on private companies, new U.S. companies, public companies, and international companies; people; demographics; industries.

Tips for searching:

Basic: Select a category (Company, People, Industry, or New U.S. Business) and then enter your search term in the box.

Or, choose “Advanced Search”. Select company/people criteria (industry, geographic location, size, job title, etc.) to shape your search. Click on “Add to Criteria” (blue button toward bottom) as you choose criteria for your search.

Lists of search results can be exported in CSV and PDF formats.

Other search features available from Mergent Intellect’s main page include: Demographics, Residential Search, and Job Search.

Where to find it: You can find it here, and under A in the databases A-Z list.

Uniworld Online, […] offer[s] two unique directories to unravel the maze of “who operates where” and “who owns whom” regardless of whether you’re sourcing, building your business, selling, tracking competitors, or seeking employment with a multinational firm. With Uniworld Online, you’ll find contact information for headquarters, branches, subsidiaries, and affiliates of the multinational firm. Since 1955, it’s all we’ve done and we do it well. All of the firms we list are multinational firms.

Tips for searching:

Search by: country, region, state, keyword, zip code, radius, industry codes, revenue, number of employees

Tips for searching:

Search by company name or ticker symbol
Use the “Advanced Search” to search fro companies by: state, city, zip code, year incorporated, number of employees, number of shareholders, auditor, etc.
Use the tabs across the top to do a: executive search, government filings search, report search, ownership search or bond search

Where to find it: You can find it here, and under P in the databases A-Z list.

Use it to find:

Business and financial data on major, non-publicly traded corporations, including family owned, private equity owned, venture backed, and international unlisted companies
Company reports: often include business summary, competitors, ownership, financials, and a detialed business description
Private market investors
Venture capitol funding
Private mergers and acquisitions

Tips for searching:

Use the search bar at the top to quickly find a known company or investor
Use the quick private company screener, in the middle, to search by location, industry, and revenue
Use the black tabs across the top to search for: private market investors, venture capitol funding, private M&A deals, private equity deals

Use it to find:

Directory information for 24 Million US Businesses
Often includes Executive Name, Address, Phone Number, Sales Volume, Employee Size
US Consumers/Lifestyle Database
US Jobs/Internships Database

Tips for searching:

Use the “Quick Search” to search by Company Name, Executive Name, City, State or Phone
Use the “Custom Search” to build a more complex search. Can refine by Business type (Industry Code / Group), Geography (Radius, County, Map Based Search, etc), Business Size, Ownership, and more

Company Dossiers – create lists of companies

Tips for searching:

Use the search box to search everything in the database (newspapers, company directories, legal news, magazines, journals, etc.)
Use the “Get Company Info” box on the bottom right, to search company profiles
Click the “Company Dossier” link at the bottom of the “Get Company Info” box, and then “Create Company List”
