New Research databases: Historical Annual Reports & Private Company data

The business library has recently acquired two databases:

Mergent Historical Annual Reports (available in Mergent Archives)
This collection starts in the early 1900’s and contains over just over 1,000,000 global annual reports.

Mergent Intellect
Intellect provides Hoovers private company data on over 100 million privately held companies globally (plus 145 million inactive global companies) and allows you the ability to download the data to a spreadsheet – up to 2,000 records at a time. This service also contains information on over 220 million individuals through WhitePages Pro and executive contacts on over 90 million professional decision makers. Also included is global family tree information. Note: The Business library has arranged to trial this database for year

The database: Passport (Consumer Industries) – Euromonitor International

Where to find it: You can find it Passport, and under P in the databases A-Z list.

NB: HawkID login is required for all users.
Passport is Euromonitor International’s global market analysis software platform, which analyses the industry in countries around the world. It monitors industry trends and gives strategic analysis and a market size and market share database for products across all key countries.

  • By choosing “Industries” – you can pick an industry

New Business Library Acquisition: Passport (from Euromonitor)

Faculty, staff and students now have access to Passport. Passport is Euromonitor International’s global market analysis software platform and provides industry analysis in countries around the world. The database includes a market size and market share database for all products across key countries.

Passport can be accessed from the Business Library website’s Databases A-Z list: Please note that on campus and off campus users will be required to enter in a HawkID and password to access Passport.

Looking for a Public Company’s Customer List? Check out Mergent Horizon

The library now subscribes to Mergent Horizon.  This research site covers 6200 companies that are traded on the NYSE, AMEX, and NASDAQ.

Mergent Horizon enables the researcher to:

SEC Releases a New Search Engine

The SEC has released IDEA, a more user friendly search portal. IDEA stands for Interactive Data Electronic Applications and will eventually replace the EDGAR database. IDEA offers faster retrieval of public company and mutual fund information. In addition, some information can be imported into spreadsheets for analysis.

New Database: IBISWorld

The UI Libraries have purchased a subscription to IBISWorld.  This online database offers access to over 700 US industry market research reports.  The report topics range from car washes to management consultants.  IBISWorld also includes US public company profiles. All of the reports can be downloaded in pdf or MS Word format.
