My Dear Wife
The music you sent me arrived this morning with your letter of the 24th inst.,1 & one from Bro. Johnie which you will find enclosed.2 I will write to Mother [Murphy] immediately & tell her that he is safe & well.
I hope Frankie may not be as bad as anticipated. May God in his good providence soon restore him to health. I shall await anxiously for further news.

- Mary Culver’s letter of September 24 is mssing from the Culver Collection.
- Brother John Murphy’s letter was dated Chattanooga, Sept. 25, 1863. Sergeant Murphy had written, “This is the first opportunity I have had of writing you since the receipt of the papers, as we have been in very active service in the field away from our baggage. Rosecrans has been driven back to this place. Our Brig. participated in the battle of Sunday last [the 20th]. It was very severe during the afternoon. We lost 14 men. I am well.” W. J. 4 modes are available in Exam Master
1. Test Mode: Submit an answer choice for each question and click score to complete the session. If score report access is allowed, go to My Stats to evaluate your strengths and weaknesses by topical area.
2. Review Mode: Available after an exam is scored in test mode. Compares answer choice previously selected in test mode in correct answer choice and allows access to question explanations.
3. Study Mode: Review question feedback and access to an explanation upon submitting an answer choice for each question. A score report is generated using the first answer choice submitted. Click score to complete the study session.
4. New Learning Mode: View correct answer choice and question explanation immediately and learn the question content without generating a score report.

Why I’m Working at Hardin: My interests are primarily special collections and the opportunity arose for me to work in the John Martin Rare Book Room
Favorite Part of Working at Hardin: Just seeing the daily operations it takes to keep a special collection accessible.
Fun Fact: My great-great uncle was a third class passenger on the R.M.S. Titanic, and was among the people rescued by the R.M.S. Carpathia.
