R2 Digital Library – Trial ended December 31, 2008.

Libraries purchased some titles.

The R2 Library, a collection of electronic books in the health sciences from Rittenhouse Book Distributors, is currently being evaluated by the Hardin Library.  Books in the collection come from a wide variety of publishers, including Wiley, Thomson Healthcare, Elsevier, McGraw-Hill, and many others. Please send comments, including recommendations on individual book titles that you find useful, to Janna Lawrence.

PsycEXTRA – Trial ended May 2, 2008.

PsycEXTRA, a gray literature database, is a companion to the scholarly PsycINFO database. It supplies clinicians, information professionals, policy-makers, researchers, and consumers with a wide variety of important information in psychology, behavioral science, and health. Most of the content was written for professionals and disseminated outside of peer-reviewed journals. Documents include newsletters, magazines, newspapers, technical and annual reports, government reports, consumer brochures, and more. Send comments to Dottie Persson.

Lexis Nexis Congressional Hearings Digital Collection – Trial ended September 30, 2008.

Libraries purchased.

The Hearings collection includes two parts. Part A includes material from 1833-1979. Part B includes 1980-2003. From the publisher: “Hearings contain the full transcripts of the proceedings, including all oral statements, committee questions, and discussion. They also contain texts of related reports, statistical analyses, correspondence, exhibits, and articles presented by witnesses or inserted into the record by committee members and staff.” Send comments to Marianne Mason.
