How do I …avoid signing into SharePoint every time?

For the Library Sharepoint home page [ https://sharepoint.uiowa.edu/sites/libraies/ ]:

  1. From Internet Explorer, find the gear-icon, or Tools menu in the upper-right hand side of the browser window itself
  2. Then select Internet Options
  3. Select the Security tab, select Local Intranet, and then click the Sites button.
  1. Make sure the three “include all” boxes are checked, then check “Automatically detect…” and click the Advanced button.
  2. Type “sharepoint.uiowa.edu” in the field at the top and click Add
  3. Type “mysites.sharepoint.uiowa.edu” and add this site as well. (You may be asked to add this to local intranet. You may agree to this.)

Click ‘Close, ‘Ok’ etc. to accept the changes.

 

The above technique only works with Internet Explorer.  Any other browser, such as Chrome or Firefox, and it will always challenge you for credentials.
