Burmeister diary, 1861 | Civil War Diaries and Letters<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>While our\u00a0long-delayed launch of World War I &amp; II documents at <a href=\"http:\/\/diyhistory.lib.uiowa.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\">DIY History<\/a>\u00a0continues to be long delayed, there are still plenty of items currently available for transcription, including several new additions to our original\u00a0crowdsourcing collection: <a href=\"http:\/\/diyhistory.lib.uiowa.edu\/transcribe\/collections\/show\/8\" target=\"_blank\">Civil War Diaries and Letters<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Among these are four diaries written by Muscatine, Iowa, native George C. Burmeister, a schoolteacher turned Civil War captain.
