{"id":27,"date":"2007-05-17T09:32:21","date_gmt":"2007-05-17T09:32:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.lib.uiowa.edu\/dls\/2007\/05\/17\/digital-connections-the-dentistry-college-class-photos\/"},"modified":"2013-10-30T11:48:40","modified_gmt":"2013-10-30T16:48:40","slug":"digital-connections-the-dentistry-college-class-photos","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.lib.uiowa.edu\/studio\/2007\/05\/17\/digital-connections-the-dentistry-college-class-photos\/","title":{"rendered":"Digital connections: The Dentistry College Class Photos"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Although the <a href=\"http:\/\/digital.lib.uiowa.edu\/dentistry\" target=\"_blank\">Dentistry College Class Photos Collection <\/a>is just over halfway complete, it has already received much attention surrounding the 125th anniversary of the UI College of Dentistry.\u00a0 A University <a href=\"http:\/\/www.news-releases.uiowa.edu\/2007\/April\/043007dentalcollege-photos.html\" target=\"_blank\">press release <\/a>highlighted the collection and the excitement surrounding it.<a href=\"http:\/\/digital.lib.uiowa.edu\/cdm\/ref\/collection\/dentistry\/id\/168\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/digital.lib.uiowa.edu\/htdocs\/dentistryhome\/images\/small5.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" hspace=\"5\" vspace=\"5\" width=\"55\" height=\"100\" align=\"left\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Illustrating the relevance of this digital collection, two people closely associated with its creation found family members on these photo boards.\u00a0 Sally Myers, DLS student assistant and lead scanning technician for the project, identified her father as a dental student.\u00a0 Likewise, Christine Tade, Cataloging Supervisor in CTS and former DLS intern, found her father&#8217;s photograph as a member of the faculty.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/digital.lib.uiowa.edu\/cdm\/ref\/collection\/dentistry\/id\/884\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/digital.lib.uiowa.edu\/htdocs\/dentistryhome\/images\/small6.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" hspace=\"5\" vspace=\"5\" width=\"82\" height=\"100\" align=\"left\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Seen from these two examples, it is likely that this digital collection will have a connection to many Iowans as they discover the rich history of this College.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u2013Mark F.
