Kathryn Gregory, the Women&#8217;s Army Auxiliary Corps member who created a mini-scandal in Iowa\u00a0during the holiday season of 1942.\u00a0After going\u00a0AWOL from her station at Fort Des Moines &#8212; she found it &#8220;dull,&#8221; according to an <a href=\"http:\/\/digital.lib.uiowa.edu\/cdm\/ref\/collection\/wwii\/id\/2774\" target=\"_blank\">interview with her mother<\/a> &#8212; the former chorus girl turned up a few weeks later at a Des Moines casino, performing a striptease act for a Thankgiving Day audience.
