Unable to stay away from his prairie roots, he returned at 18 to\u00a0attend\u00a0Drake University. There,\u00a0he double majored in\u00a0law,\u00a0politics, and\u00a0society;\u00a0and\u00a0rhetoric,\u00a0media, and\u00a0social\u00a0change.\u00a0While at Drake, Collin\u00a0worked in Cowles\u00a0Library&#8217;s\u00a0Special Collections and Archives as a student assistant,\u00a0where\u00a0he\u00a0fell in love with archival work.\u00a0After Drake,\u00a0he\u00a0taught English at a university in Guilin, China, for a year before coming back to Iowa to enroll in the\u00a0master\u2019s program at\u00a0the\u00a0UI\u00a0School of Library and Information Science.\u00a0During this time, Collin had a position as\u00a0a student lead in Special Collections and Archives.\u00a0His\u00a0focus during this\u00a0time\u00a0was on reprocessing J. N. \u201cDing\u201d Darling\u2019s Papers for a celebration of what would be his 150th birthday in 2026.\u00a0Collin also\u00a0co-curated\u00a0an exhibit\u00a0on Darling,\u00a0now open in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lib.uiowa.edu\/gallery\/exhibit\/ding-darling\/\">Main Library Gallery<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;I\u00a0most look forward\u00a0to the chance to make\u00a0the Ruth &amp; Marvin Sackner Archive of Concrete and Visual Poetry more accessible to the public. It is a wonderful collection full of surprising and thought-provoking pieces. Every time I wander through the collection, I find a new exciting piece that I cannot wait for researchers and students to see as well,&#8221; says Collin. &#8220;I hope to have many engaging\u00a0conversations\u00a0[with researchers] about\u00a0the\u00a0Sackner\u00a0materials during my term.&#8221;\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In his spare time, Collin is a self-proclaimed nerd, regularly playing Magic: The\u00a0Gathering\u00a0and Dungeons &amp; Dragons with friends and family.\u00a0\u00a0Right now,\u00a0his new reading obsession is\u00a0the Dungeon Crawler Carl series.
