Special Collections and the Iowa Bibliophiles will be hosting a reception and open house extravaganza the evening of\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Wednesday March 8, 2017<\/span><\/strong><\/span>\u00a0celebrating the arrival of the traveling exhibition\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Open*Set<\/span><\/strong><\/span>\u00a0while providing an opportunity for in-depth investigation of our newest acquisitions.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\nExplore the Open*Set exhibition<\/a> from the American Academy of Bookbinding, in the Special Collections gallery space while recent acquisitions from Special Collections are set up for browsing in our Reading Room.<\/span><\/span>
\n\u00a0<\/span>
\nBookbinder, printer, and Open*Set judge<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>David Esslemont<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/a>\u00a0<\/span>will speak about the exhibition at<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>6:15pm<\/strong><\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Acquisitions and Collections Management Librarian\u00a0<\/span>Margaret Gamm<\/strong><\/span><\/u>\u00a0will provide an in-depth recap of rare book acquisitions over the past three years at\u00a0<\/span>7:00pm<\/strong><\/span>. Learn how the University acquires material through purchase and donation, and discover which areas have been most heavily developed, all the way from Medieval manuscripts to modern artists\u2019 books.<\/span><\/span>
\n\u00a0<\/span>
\nCome for a bit or stay for all.<\/span><\/span>
\n\u00a0<\/span><\/span>
\nThe festivities all take place in the Special Collections Reading Room on the 3<\/span>rd<\/sup><\/span>\u00a0floor of the Main Library from 5:30PM~7:45PM.<\/span><\/span>

\nRefreshments will be served<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
