The launch date for the service has yet to be released.<\/p>\n<p>From <a href=\"https:\/\/www.acs.org\/content\/acs\/en\/pressroom\/newsreleases\/2016\/august\/acs-announces-intention-to-establish-chemrxiv-preprint-server-to-promote-early-research-sharing.html\">American Chemical Society News Releases, August 10, 2016<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The American Chemical Society (ACS) today announced its intention to form <i>ChemRxiv<\/i>, a chemistry preprint server for the global chemistry community, proposed as a collaborative undertaking that will facilitate the open dissemination of important scientific findings. The Society is presently in the process of inviting interested stakeholders to participate in helping to shape the service ahead of its anticipated launch.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;&#8221;<i>ChemRxiv<\/i> is expected to follow the established models of <i>arXiv<\/i> in physics and\u00a0<i>bioRxiv<\/i> in the life sciences by enabling researchers working across diverse areas of inquiry to share early results and data with their scientist-colleagues ahead of formal peer review and publication,\u201d says Kevin Davies, Ph.D., who, as Vice President within the ACS Publications Division, will be spearheading the effort as part of a joint undertaking with the Society\u2019s Chemical Abstracts Service.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>And more information from <em>Nature:\u00a0<\/em>&#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nature.com.\/news\/chemists-to-get-their-own-preprint-server-1.20409\">Chemists to get their own preprint server<\/a>&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>This is an exciting announcement with the potential to change scholarly publishing in the chemistry community.
