The new agreement allows corresponding authors from the University of Iowa to publish a limited number of open access articles in RSC journals for free.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-thumbnail\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.lib.uiowa.edu\/news\/files\/2021\/08\/open-access-orange-lock.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.lib.uiowa.edu\/news\/files\/2021\/08\/open-access-orange-lock-150x150.png\" alt=\"Open Access\" class=\"wp-image-4761\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.lib.uiowa.edu\/news\/files\/2021\/08\/open-access-orange-lock-150x150.png 150w, https:\/\/blog.lib.uiowa.edu\/news\/files\/2021\/08\/open-access-orange-lock-300x300.png 300w, https:\/\/blog.lib.uiowa.edu\/news\/files\/2021\/08\/open-access-orange-lock.png 349w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>The agreement purchases vouchers to cover the article processing charges (APCs) for manuscripts accepted by Dec. 31 of this year, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>One open access voucher for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rsc.org\/journals-books-databases\/open-access-publishing\/#oajournals\">RSC\u2019s Gold OA Journals<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>One open access voucher for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rsc.org\/journals-books-databases\/about-journals\/rsc-advances\/\">RSC Advances<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Five open access Read &amp; Publish vouchers for RSC\u2019s hybrid journals (all other RSC journals)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>To confirm your eligibility, make sure you are listed as the corresponding author, both in the online submission system and in your manuscript. Use your university email address to submit your manuscript and state your institutional affiliation and email address in your manuscript.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When your manuscript is accepted, you will have the chance to choose a gold open access publication route, which will trigger a voucher. Authors will retain copyright and the article will be published under a <a href=\"https:\/\/creativecommons.org\/licenses\/\">Creative Commons license<\/a>. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rsc.org\/globalassets\/05-journals-books-databases\/librarians-information\/promotional\/read-and-publish-toolkit\/rp-workflow-flyer-210x297mm.pdf\">Detailed instructions<\/a> are available from RSC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Open access publishing helps your work reach a wider audience because it is free to read and not limited to subscribers. The RSC Read &amp; Publish agreement is one of a growing number of <a href=\"https:\/\/guides.lib.uiowa.edu\/c.php?g=1220506&amp;p=9051027\">transformative agreements<\/a> in which the UI Libraries participates as part of its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lib.uiowa.edu\/scholarly-impact\/libraries-statement\/\">commitment to support open access<\/a>.
