{"id":5231,"date":"2023-02-16T11:24:52","date_gmt":"2023-02-16T17:24:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.lib.uiowa.edu\/news\/?p=5231"},"modified":"2026-04-17T10:30:32","modified_gmt":"2026-04-17T15:30:32","slug":"landmark-open-publishing-agreement-with-wiley-extended-for-three-years","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.lib.uiowa.edu\/news\/2023\/02\/16\/landmark-open-publishing-agreement-with-wiley-extended-for-three-years\/","title":{"rendered":"Landmark open publishing agreement with Wiley extended for three years"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The University of Iowa Libraries is pleased to announce <span data-ccp-charstyle=\"Hyperlink\">the expansion of the landmark <a href=\"https:\/\/authorservices.wiley.com\/author-resources\/Journal-Authors\/open-access\/affiliation-policies-payments\/btaa-agreement.html\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/authorservices.wiley.com\/author-resources\/Journal-Authors\/open-access\/affiliation-policies-payments\/btaa-agreement.html\">open publishing agreement between the Big Ten Academic Alliance (BTAA) and Wiley<\/a>. The new three-year agreement, which is effective Jan. 1, 2023, to Dec. 31, 2025, grants University of Iowa faculty, staff, and students access to publish and read in <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/onlinelibrary.wiley.com\/action\/showPublications?PubType=journal\">Wiley\u2019s full journal portfolio<\/a>, including Hindawi\u2019s gold open access portfolio, with no fees, no caps, no limits, no hassle<\/strong>. Authors keep the rights to their own work under a Creative Commons license, making their work immediately open and available to anyone.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>UI corresponding authors may publish their articles open access in <span data-contrast=\"none\">any journal under the Wiley umbrella at no charge during the term of the agreement. Authors must identify themselves as being affiliated with the university when submitting articles through the Wiley publishing workflow process.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\"> Eligible publications:<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Have a corresponding author from a BTAA institution;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Are primary research and review articles are primary research and review articles (which may include original articles, case studies, reviews, and short communications);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Are accepted for publication in a Wiley hybrid journal or submitted and accepted to a Wiley gold or Hindawi journal during the term of the agreement (Jan. 1, 2023 to Dec. 31, 2025).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The Wiley agreement is one of a growing number of\u202f<a href=\"https:\/\/guides.lib.uiowa.edu\/c.php?g=1220506&amp;p=9051027\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-ccp-charstyle=\"Hyperlink\">transformative agreements<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u202fthe UI Libraries participates in as part of its\u202f<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lib.uiowa.edu\/scholarly-impact\/libraries-statement\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-ccp-charstyle=\"Hyperlink\">commitment to support Open Access<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.
