Why? Because that&#8217;s the day we&#8217;re having a <a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/2GP61gu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Living Book<\/a> event! A perfect opportunity to visit with a researcher in your area of study &#8211; or explore and entirely different aspect of engineering!<\/p>\n<p>Researchers from the Department of Civil &amp; Environmental Engineering, Chemical &amp; Biochemical Engineering, IIHR-Hydroscience &amp; Engineering, and the Department of Electrical &amp; Computer Engineering, will be in the Engineering Library eager to share their research experiences!<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.lib.uiowa.edu\/eng\/files\/2018\/04\/Headshot_amina_fix@025x.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-7206\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.lib.uiowa.edu\/eng\/files\/2018\/04\/Headshot_amina_fix@025x-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>Amina Grant<\/span>, Dept. of Civil &amp; Environmental Engineering,\u00a0<em>Researching Lead and Copper in Iowa Drinking Water.<\/em>\u00a0 She will be available to talk about her research on small or very small water systems in Iowa. Talk with her about her research and her overarching goal of providing a publicly accessible database.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.lib.uiowa.edu\/eng\/files\/2018\/04\/Ben@025x.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-7207\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.lib.uiowa.edu\/eng\/files\/2018\/04\/Ben@025x-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>Benjamin King<\/span>, Dept. of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering, will be sharing\u00a0<em>Researching the Development of Aerosols for Targeted Drug Delivery in the Lungs.<\/em> His research allowed him to design and synthesize polymer-coated gold nanoparticles functionalized for targeted delivery in the lungs.\u00a0 Check this Living Book out for 15 minutes and learn about his research dealing with inhaled therapies!<\/p>\n<p><em><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.lib.uiowa.edu\/eng\/files\/2018\/04\/Marek-Rachel-sm-e1522431574319-234x300.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-7208\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.lib.uiowa.edu\/eng\/files\/2018\/04\/Marek-Rachel-sm-e1522431574319-234x300-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>Researching Human Exposure to Persistent Organic Pollutants like PCBs, Pesticides, and Siloxanes<\/em> is\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Rachel F. Marek&#8217;s<\/span> research focus! Her research involves analysis of PCBs, their breakdown particles and other environmental contaminants. Her study involves monitoring pesticides at farm houses, lab experiments with siloxanes, and novel instrument applications for monitoring environmental contaminants to ascertain whether people &#8211; especially children &#8211; are exposed to harmful chemicals.
