Author Christian Poulsen, said\u00a0&#8220;As I watched it [BB-8] roll around [at the\u00a0<em>Star Wars<\/em>\u00ae\u00a0Celebration], my only thought was, &#8216;Need!&#8217; So, I made one.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Issue 46 of\u00a0<em>Make<\/em>\u00a0provides 3 different approaches to building your own BB-8. The 1<sup>st<\/sup> is a DIY by Poulsen. The 2<sup>nd<\/sup> is by <a href=\"http:\/\/makezine.com\/projects\/full-size-bb-8-robot-using-power-wheels\/\" target=\"_blank\">Kurt Zimmerman<\/a> who shares the ups and downs of his BB-8 project, and the 3<sup>rd<\/sup> is written by <a href=\"http:\/\/makezine.com\/projects\/open-source-full-sized-bb-8-robot\/\" target=\"_blank\">Casey Kuhns<\/a> and explores the way in which a team of engineers and artists created a BB-8 that looks and sounds like the real thing. Beginning with working with a Sphero\u00a0toy, embedding the magnet, painting, and adding the magnets and felt, Poulsen walks you the process step-by-step.
