{"id":223,"date":"2013-04-15T17:07:01","date_gmt":"2013-04-15T17:07:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.lib.uiowa.edu\/eng\/?p=223"},"modified":"2013-04-16T12:03:41","modified_gmt":"2013-04-16T12:03:41","slug":"happy-birthday-leonardo-da-vinci","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.lib.uiowa.edu\/eng\/happy-birthday-leonardo-da-vinci\/","title":{"rendered":"Happy birthday Leonardo da Vinci"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>born on April 15, 1452 Leonardo da Vinci was an Italian Renaissance painter, sculptor, architect, musician, mathematician, anatomist, geologist, cartographer, botanist and writer. \u00a0He epitomized the Italian Renaissance, a period of great cultural change and achievement that began in Italy during the 14th century and lasted until the 16th century, marking the transition between Medieval and Early Modern Europe. \u00a0Leonardo was described as the epitome of a Renaissance man.<\/p>\n<p>Leonardo was born in the Tuscan hill town of Vinci. \u00a0He was born out-of-wedlock the son of the wealthy Messer Peiro Fruosino di Antonio da Vince and Caterina, a peasant. \u00a0His full name Lionardo di ser Piero da Vinci. \u00a0The inclusion of the &#8220;ser&#8221;
