{"id":6356,"date":"2016-08-09T19:50:00","date_gmt":"2016-08-09T19:50:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.lib.uiowa.edu\/news\/?p=3796"},"modified":"2016-08-09T19:50:00","modified_gmt":"2016-08-09T19:50:00","slug":"ui-libraries-awards-2016-17-student-employee-scholarships-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.lib.uiowa.edu\/combo\/2016\/08\/09\/ui-libraries-awards-2016-17-student-employee-scholarships-2\/","title":{"rendered":"UI Libraries awards 2016-17 Student Employee Scholarships"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The UI Libraries is pleased to announce\u00a0the first two winners of the Libraries&#8217; Student Employee Scholarship.\u00a0 The selection committed was delighted\u00a0to have such a strong candidate pool for the scholarship and found the final decision extremely difficult.\u00a0 The winners are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Stacy Garrard<\/strong> \u2013 Stacy Garrard is a freshman majoring in speech and hearing sciences. Garrard works in Special Collections where she enjoys\u00a0looking at the historical pieces of art, literature, and letters, as well as assisting patrons with general inquiries and in-depth research.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Ghyas Zeidieh<\/strong> \u2013 Ghyas Zeidieh is a graduate student pursuing a doctoral degree in musical arts in cello performance. He has been working at the Rita Benton Music Library for nearly three\u00a0years and enjoys sparking students&#8217; interest through conversation and opening windows to their research.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Thank you to the scholarship committee for their assistance with this process:\u00a0 Beth Stone, Rijn Templeton, Marianne Mason, H Pedelty, Pam Kacena, and Michelle Dralle.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, sincere thanks to all UI Libraries\u00a0staff who generously contributed to this student scholarship fund during the 2015 We Are Phil campaign.
