This hands-on session will examine the challenges and suggest techniques for doing better searches on topics related to nutrition, diet, and foods in general.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"margin: 0px;background-color: white\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri,sans-serif;font-size: small\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;background-color: white\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"margin: 0px;background-color: white\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri,sans-serif;font-size: small\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;background-color: white\"><span style=\"color: #222222\">Since the class was taught in July, we at Hardin Library and our users have gotten access to Embase (&#8220;The European equivalent of PubMed&#8221;). <a href=\"http:\/\/purl.lib.uiowa.edu\/Embase\" >Embase<\/a> looks to be a big improvement over PubMed for nutrition searching, and a major focus of the class will be comparing the two databases.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"margin: 0px;background-color: white\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri,sans-serif;font-size: small\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;background-color: white\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"margin: 0px;background-color: white\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri,sans-serif;font-size: small\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;background-color: white\"><span style=\"color: #222222\">The class will be taught by Janna Lawrence and Eric Rumsey, both of whom are experienced in searching nutrition and other subjects in PubMed (and learning Embase!).<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"margin: 0px;background-color: white\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri,sans-serif;font-size: small\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;background-color: white\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"margin: 0px;background-color: white\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri,sans-serif;font-size: small\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;background-color: white\"><span style=\"color: #222222\">Wednesday, October 1, 2:00 &#8211; 3:00 pm\u00a0(Location: East Information Commons, Hardin Library for the Health Sciences<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"margin: 0px;background-color: white\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"margin: 0px;background-color: white\">Register online:\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.lib.uiowa.edu\/hardin\/workshop\/\" > http:\/\/www.lib.uiowa.edu\/hardin\/workshop\/<\/a> or by calling 319-335-9151.<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Performing nutrition-related searches in PubMed can be challenging.
