{"id":1632,"date":"2013-05-14T08:59:29","date_gmt":"2013-05-14T08:59:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.lib.uiowa.edu\/preservation\/?p=3217"},"modified":"2013-05-14T08:59:29","modified_gmt":"2013-05-14T08:59:29","slug":"university-of-iowa-libraries-special-collections-now-on-the-road","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.lib.uiowa.edu\/combo\/2013\/05\/14\/university-of-iowa-libraries-special-collections-now-on-the-road\/","title":{"rendered":"University of Iowa Libraries Special Collections Now on the Road"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Tuesday, May 14, 2013<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.lib.uiowa.edu\/preservation\/files\/2013\/05\/20130305091224406_0002_blog.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-3224\" alt=\"Exhibit flyer\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.lib.uiowa.edu\/preservation\/files\/2013\/05\/20130305091224406_0002_blog.jpg\" width=\"200\" height=\"333\" \/><\/a>Several items from the University of Iowa Libraries Special Collections are now a part of the exhibit &#8220;Marking Territory, Cartographic Treasures of the Mississippi River and the World Beyond,&#8221; March 2- June 16, 2013 at the Figge Art Museum in Davenport. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.figgeartmuseum.org\/\">http:\/\/www.figgeartmuseum.org\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Curator Rima Girnius from the Figge, worked with Mary McInroy and Greg Prickman to select 17 maps, 3 books and 1 copperplate for this exhibit which explores \u201chow maps communicate highly complex ideas about identity, politics, and culture.\u201d After selecting the objects for the show, the items were documented and prepared for exhibit by the Conservation Staff.
