Note: Users must authenticate with their HawkID and then log in to GFD.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/blog.lib.uiowa.edu\/biz\/files\/2016\/05\/GFD1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1705 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.lib.uiowa.edu\/biz\/files\/2016\/05\/GFD1-300x156.png\" alt=\"Global Financial Data home screen\" width=\"300\" height=\"156\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.lib.uiowa.edu\/biz\/files\/2016\/05\/GFD1-300x156.png 300w, https:\/\/blog.lib.uiowa.edu\/biz\/files\/2016\/05\/GFD1-1024x532.png 1024w, https:\/\/blog.lib.uiowa.edu\/biz\/files\/2016\/05\/GFD1.png 1129w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Use it to find:\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Time series data on a range of financial topics including US stocks, commodities, interest rates, exchange rates, international trade, etc.<\/li>\n<li>Data on social and governmental indicators such as health, income distribution, infrastructure, energy, etc.<\/li>\n<li>International data sources include Eurostat and the World Bank.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tips for searching: <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The options for searching GFD are found on the left side of the screen (see image above).<\/li>\n<li>GFD Keyword Search allows for searching based on name (company, country, etc.), symbol, CUSIP, SIC, or NAICS.<\/li>\n<li>Hover over the title of a given data set to get a detailed description.<\/li>\n<li>GFD Filter Search allows users to narrow their search parameters before initiating a search. Parameters that can be adjusted include country, region, time period, data source, etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To browse data series available on particular subjects, users can set several parameters, for example country (Bulgaria) and series type (Exports and Imports), and leave the search box empty. This will generate a list of data sources that meet both parameters.\u00a0 Select \u201cGFDatabase + Eurostat\u201d option to get the broadest list of available data.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.lib.uiowa.edu\/biz\/files\/2016\/05\/GFD8.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1712 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.lib.uiowa.edu\/biz\/files\/2016\/05\/GFD8-300x207.png\" alt=\"GFD Search Results\" width=\"300\" height=\"207\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.lib.uiowa.edu\/biz\/files\/2016\/05\/GFD8-300x207.png 300w, https:\/\/blog.lib.uiowa.edu\/biz\/files\/2016\/05\/GFD8.png 988w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Downloading Data:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The GFD AutoTrac feature allows users to gather data series and related settings into Workbooks (see image).<\/li>\n<li>Once the desired series have been added to a Workbook, users can download the Workbook contents onto their computers.<\/li>\n<li>The Workbook contents can then be saved within GFD for use at a later time.
