How do Americans use the internet to find health information?

A survey –The Social Life of Health Information–from the Pew Research Center’s Intenet and American Life Project and California Healthcare Foundation found that 61 percent of Americans now look online for health information. 

More interesting findings:

  • online information is impacting healthcare decisions for patients
  • 38 percent of users are looking for information about hospitals
  • 47 percent are looking for information about doctors or healthcare providers
  • 66 percent are looking for information about a specific disease or problem
