Hardin Library for the Health Sciences is happy to welcome Jennifer DeBerg to the Hardin staff! She comes to the library as a Clinical Education Librarian, and has a long history of working in the health industry.

A recent change in career fields led Jennifer to the Hardin Library, after recently completing her Masters in Library Science from Emporia State University, and before which she was an occupational therapist. New to both Iowa and the Hardin Library, she is definitely still adjusting to Iowa after having lived in Utah before her career change.

Currently, her free time is spent enjoying the company of her husband and two young children, and she hopes to explore more of Iowa after the weather warms up. Her other interests include the outdoors, snowboarding, and of course, reading.

The Hardin Library for the Health Sciences is now able to answer text messages via Meebo.

The Women’s Resource & Action Center and the Council on the Status of Women are accepting nominations for the 2009 Jean Y. Jew Women’s Rights Award.  The award, given annually by the Council on the Status of Women and the Women’s Resource and Action Center, honors a faculty, staff, or student member of the University community who has demonstrated outstanding effort or achievement in improving the status of women at the University.  The award will be granted at the Annual Celebration of Excellence and Achievement Among Women on April 1, 2009, at 3:30 pm in the Old Capital Museum.

Beginning today, you can get Hardin Library books delivered to your campus office address through a partnership with the UI Libraries and Central Mail Services.

Once you find a book you would like to check out, a request for delivery can be made directly from the InfoHawk library catalog.  Your HawkID and password are required.  You can request book deliveries to your campus office address or have them delivered to the Hardin Library for pickup.   Materials will be available within 5 working days (excluding weekends and holidays) and an email notification will be sent when the book leaves the owning library. 

There are a few exceptions to this new service. Materials from the Curriculum Resources Laboratory in the College of Education, State Historical Society of Iowa, Law Library in the College of Law are excluded.  Dorm addresses are excluded.  Reserve items, media material, and materials that circulate for short time periods (7 days or less) are also excluded from this service.  However, Law Library materials and media materials from the Main Library Media Services can still be requested through the library to library delivery service.
