U of Iowa Subscription to Current Contents Cancelled as of January 1, 2006
The UI Libraries has made the decision to cancel our subscription to Current Contents as of January 2006. Students and faculty have relied for many years on Current Contents to provide a simple and effective general interdisciplinary database and table-of-contents alerting service. However, there is a content overlap of 100% for Current Contents in the larger Web of Science (also an ISI product). There is also considerable overlap with PubMed. The usage of Current Contents has dropped significantly in the past several years, and it is no longer feasible to pay over $20,000 per year for 100% duplicative content, given the current UI Libraries budget environment.
We know and regret that the cancellation of Current Contents will inconvenience patrons who have used this database regularly. We are here to help you learn how to find and extract the same information and functionality you got from Current Contents through other databases.
